ウルトラマンタロウからウルトラマンメビウスへと受け継がれる“炎”の継承をテーマに制作した作品です。
タロウの炎は、自らを犠牲にしてでも道を切り開く、原始的かつ圧倒的な昭和期の英雄性を象徴しています。一方でメビウスの炎は、仲間との絆や先人たちから受け継いだ意志を背負い、未来へと繋がっていく平成期以降の英雄性を象徴しています。異なる時代の英雄像は、炎という共通のモチーフによって重なり合い、一つの系譜として連なっています。
師弟関係とは、導く者と導かれる者の関係に留まらず、やがて対等となり、時にはその背中を追い越していくものでもあります。本作では、タロウからメビウスへと受け継がれる時間と想いを「炎」の連なりとして描き、その継承構造そのものを視覚化することを試みました。
