19May2025 posted. Red Oni & Blue Oni—part of my broader series exploring mythological beings alongside angels, demons, and beastfolk. As fierce deities reflecting Shinto-Buddhist syncretism, these oni girls merge visual elements from both faiths, resulting in a combination of details I'm especially fond of.
Drawing additional inspiration from "Komainu" guardian lion-dogs, I enjoyed building contrasts through their "A-un" expressions, red vs. blue palette, and differing horn counts. Originally shared as two distinct illustrations on X, they have been unified into a single piece for this exhibition.
