連載第 1 回“誕生編”のカラー原画を素材とした本作品。物語の始まりとして描かれた 1 枚が、作品の“誕生”から 60 年以上を経て、新たな表現技術によって生まれ変わりました。
島村ジョーは、悪の組織「黒い幽霊団(ブラック・ゴースト)に拉致され、自ら望まぬままに兵器としてサイボーグ化されるという強制的な第二の誕生を経験しました。
しかし、世界に争いの種を撒く組織の野望を知ったとき、その巨悪に立ち向かえるのは、皮肉にも彼らに力を与えられた 9 人のゼロゼロナンバーサイボーグしかいない。
ジョーたちは自らの宿命を受け入れ、他者のために戦うという使命感と責任感により「サイボーグ戦士」として立ち上がります。
本作品では、島村ジョーと仲間たちのその後の物語の片鱗を無数のコマによって象徴化し、哀しみや葛藤を抱えつつも新たな道のりを歩み始める『サイボーグ 009』の誕生編を、コンバージアートとして再構築いたしました。
