A job completed - messily - but satisfactorily nonetheless.

I created this piece because I was inspired by jackets with really cool graphics! Character costume design is something I always enjoyed greatly, but for a long time, my style was focused on simplicity, allowing the overall shape and concept of the design to take center stage. For a long time, I believed that a strong design should always work even without fine detailing. However, I also wanted to better explore what quality detail can add to a drawing. Despite this being an early attempt, learning to deliberately create and apply motifs and graphics has been very eye opening for me. Being able to create more intricate artworks within costumes or even settings feel extremely rewarding and fun. It’s able to represent the world your characters live in to a much greater extent in an elegant way, something that perhaps a simpler design cannot always achieve. After creating this piece, I started to pay a lot more attention to deliberate detailing - rather than just using noise and density, I would like to create more artworks-in-artworks to bring more characters and settings to life.
