Street - Small Edition

Red light is a kind of lighting that is quite unique. Its dim nature means it’s often seen in areas where bright lighting needs to be kept minimal - for example in military use or nightlife. It also is a type of light that tends to color everything it touches. This natural contrast makes for a solid red base palette which I am able to further make use of. Primarily, the design of the character subject has great relevance to our use of light. With a T-shirt, jacket and shorts, her visuals complement the red mood lighting in an intuitive way, as it makes sense for a character like this to perhaps be in a more rambunctious part of town. As such, I was able to better capture a realistic looking scene using the red light. Depth of field is also a tool I employed here to create a stronger sense of separation between elements, where the fore, mid and background are distinctly segregated. This emulates photography to an extent, which makes for interesting visuals when combined with an illustrated scene.
