What if skateboards had arrived in Japan through trade during the Edo period? Young people surely would have called them "Plank Wheels" (Ita-sharin), decorated them with charms, and took pride in riding them as if they were part of their own bodies. This is the very piece that inspired the artist to begin creating Ukiyo-e style illustrations.
