花札の中で最も華やかで、特別な意味を持つ五枚の札――「松に鶴」「桜に幕」「芒に月」「柳と小野道風」「桐に鳳凰」。これらは「光札」と呼ばれ、吉兆や歴史的意匠を描き込み、遊戯の中で最高位の役を成す存在である。その輝きは、単なる札を超えて、日本の自然観や美意識を凝縮した象徴といえる。
本作では、その光札にPAC-MANのモチーフを重ね合わせた。PAC-MANは光札一枚にしか存在せず、ゴーストたちは札を「ゴーストハウス」に見立てて閉じ込められている。伝統的な意匠とゲームのキャラクターが交差することで、新しい表現の広がりが生まれている。
最高位の札とPAC-MAN――互いに文化の象徴である存在が出会うことで、懐かしさと革新が共存する風景が広がっていく。そこに映し出されるのは、時代や形式を越えても変わらず生き続ける「遊び」の力であることを感じさせるだろう。
